About Add Page Numbers to PDF
This free tool lets you add page numbers to any PDF with control over position, font size, starting number, and number format. Upload your PDF, choose where the numbers should appear (bottom center, bottom right, top right, etc.), set the font size and starting number, and download the numbered PDF. Everything happens in your browser - no server upload.
Adding page numbers to a PDF is necessary for any formal document - reports, proposals, contracts, academic submissions, and reference materials. A numbered document is easier to navigate, easier to reference in conversation ("see page 14"), and more professional than an unnumbered file.
Position options include all four corners and the center of both header and footer areas. The starting number can be set to any value - useful when a document starts with a cover page you want to exclude from numbering, letting you start the content numbering at 1 on the second page.
Custom prefix and suffix text lets you format numbers as "Page 1 of 20", "- 1 -", or any other convention your organization uses. Font size can be adjusted for visibility on different page sizes.
Your PDF is not uploaded to any server. Processing is client-side using JavaScript, which means no upload time, no file size limit, and complete privacy. The output PDF is standard and compatible with any viewer or printer.
